Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
An outstanding new job opportunity has arisen for a motivated Speech and Language Therapist to provide patients services appropriate to their needs in variety of settings such as care homes, patient homes and outpatient clinics based in the West Lancashire area. You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers
As the Speech and Language Therapist your key responsibilities include:
• To undertake comprehensive speech and language therapy assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations
• To deputise for the Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist and represent the clinical team when required to do so as appropriate
• To ensure a high standard of patient care is provided, implementing and reviewing clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken
• To provide specialist speech and language therapy advice to other Health Care Professionals
• To advise, develop, assist and educate all appropriate staff on the management and care of patients with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties
• To be responsible for the timely and accurate collection of such statistics / records as are required nationally and departmentally and to ensure that confidentiality is maintained
• To manage working in a highly pressured, busy work environment and maintain excellent working relationships with the MDT Team
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
• Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
• Previous community experience and dysphagia training
• Head and neck cancer experience as well
• Relevant Experience of team leadership/staff supervision
• Relevant experience in specialist area
• Excellent teaching and presentation skills
• Excellent clinical reasoning, assessment and treatment skills
• Excellent time, prioritisation and self-management skills

To be considered for this position you must have a Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification with a UK HCPC registration
